在人们长期以来习用的简洁精辟的定型词组也即成语中，有一个似乎为隔海相望的 中日两国所专用，这就是“一衣带水”。“衣带”之长，象征着中日交往历史之悠久；“衣带”之窄，象征着中日地理文化之接近。就“一衣带水”的中日两国而言，在2000余年的交往历史中，多数时期两国人民和睦相处，互相交流，与亚洲各国人民一道，共同创造和发展了博大精深的东方文明。虽然在1874年以后的半个多世纪里，日本军国主义发动侵略战争，给中国人民带来深重的灾难，但中国政府始终将广大日本人民同少 数军国主义分子相区别，把发展中日睦邻友好关系置于对外关系的重要地位，并一向认为，良好的中日关系不仅有利于两国人民及子孙后代的根本利益，而且有利于亚洲和世界的和平与稳定。（Among the idioms that have been used by people for a long time in their concise and penetrating stereotypes, one appears to be dedicated to China and Japan across the sea, namely “a strip of water”.
