影尘回忆录(Memories of Shadows and Dust)

本书是近代中国佛教界著名高僧、与虚云和尚、太虚大师合称“三虚”之一的倓虚大师的口述自传，由其弟子大光法师背着大师私下记录而成。书中记录了倓虚大师从出生到1948年的传奇经历。全书共分二十三章，前五章叙述倓虚出家前的一些基本情况，如家庭背景和个人性格等；第六至九章是倓虚出家学佛情况的回忆；第十至二十章是全书的主体，是对倓虚弘传佛法、创建诸多寺庙经过的详细介绍，既有对中国佛教历史上一些重要典故的独特解释，也有对中日韩及东南亚佛教发展历史的叙述，更有对近现代中国佛教、文化、社会一些重要人物、时间的记忆和评述；最后三张是对倓虚佛教思想的阐释。该书是现代最著名的高僧自传之一。 ( This book is an oral autobiography about Tan Xu, an outstanding eminent monk in modern Chinese Buddhist circle, also known as “three Xu” together with other two influential monks-Xu Yun and Tai Xu. Recorded privately by his disciple Da Guang, this writing is about Master Tan Xu’s legendary life from his birth to the year of 1948. Of 23 chapters of this memories, the first 5 chapters introduces the general information of this great master, such as his family background and personality; chapter 6 to 9 are about his memory of becoming a monk and learning Buddhism; chapter 10 to 20 is the main body of this book, detailing his endeavors in promoting Buddhism and founding Buddhist temples. These 10 chapters also interpret significant allusions to the history of China’s Buddhism from a distinctive angle, describe the history of Buddhism in China, Japan, South Korea and even Southeast Asia at large, as well as recall and observe some influential figures and vital events in modern and contemporary China’s Buddhism, culture and society. The last 3 chapters illustrate this distinguished monk’s thought of Buddhism. Memories of Shadows and Dust emerges as one of the most famous autobiographies of celebrated monks in modern times. )
