The Making of Steel is a full-length novel on the reflection of the participation of youth in 1920s~1930s in the establishment and consolidation of the Soviet regime and in the reconstruction of fiery struggle in the national economy created with the personal experiences of the author as the material. Pavel Kolchakin, the protagonist, was seriously wounded in the war, paralyzed and blind later. In order to return to the post for construction of the country, he worked hard to learn by himself, read a large number of literary works, gradually improved the level of writing, and finally worked out a deeply moving full-length novel to continue to make outstanding contributions to the people. The persevering tenacious struggle spirit of the protagonist in The Making of Steel still has a positive meaning to this day.)
