Deeply influenced by Wittgenstein and Popper's concept of analytic philosophy, Raymond Aron presents a special historical study to the readers from multiple perspectives of philosophy, history and sociology. This is a rare piece of work of Raymond Aron's cross-domain study. In this book, Raymond Aron combined the Anglo-Saxonian analytic philosophy with the traditional German sociology, and made the two thoughts converse with his vivid language, reproducing the central question in the German tradition: what is unique in the understanding of human history, when compared with the understanding of the natural world? Can people explain Hitler's decision to attack the Soviet Union like they explain the falling of objects?)
